Actress Adele Silva, best known for her role as Kelly Windsor in Emmerdale took time out of her busy schedule to visit Stagecoach Horsforth in Leeds.
Adele's visit was to present the first ever Stagecoach Charitable Trust Award to a worthy winner; Cameron Small of Preston
At just 13 year of age, Cameron Small, raised over £100,000 for sick children, despite suffering from Evans Syndrome, a rare blood disorder. He also helped initiate an appeal to raise £20 million for a new children's hospital. Small has undergone significant hospital treatment during his young life, including multiple blood and platelet transfusions and four courses of chemotherapy.
Yet, despite the trauma, he's raised more than £95,000 for Manchester Children's Hospital. He says: "When I was in hospital I was really ill and really bored because there was nothing to do."I wanted to raise money to buy things for other sick children so they wouldn't be bored like I was."
Cameron Small, a Stagecoach student, accepted the Stagecoach Charitable Trust Award, which recognises outstanding achievement during adversity, from Adele Silva. After the short presentation Silva spent time chatting to the Stagecoach students answering their questions about her life on stage and screen.
