NAAS
Run by Principal Mariclare McMahon, Stagecoach Naas (part of Stagecoach Kildare) consists of a Main School for students aged 6 to 16 years, and will be based at Scoil Bhride in Naas on Saturdays at 2.30pm.
Although originally from Co. Offaly, Mariclare lived in Dublin where she ran a very successful Speech and Drama School. She has been involved with the performing arts from a very young age and was inspired at the age of 7 when she had a small part in the film "Flight of the Doves", which was made near where she was raised in Co. Offaly.
Mariclare studied drama and received her teaching diploma with the London College of Music in 1983. With further study she received a teaching diploma with the Irish Board of Speech and Drama. After being awarded her licentiate, Mariclare became an examiner and travelled, in this role, to schools around Ireland. She has also worked extensively as a voiceover artist on advertisements and in education and other instructional audiovisual materials. In 1998 she co-produced and presented a current affairs program on local radio in Dublin. In 2002 with more than 10 years teaching experience Mariclare set up and managed her own Stage School called Razzle Dazzle which also provided music and dance classes.
Drama can be used to affect people's lives in a very positive way and Mariclare has taken time out to complete an MA in Dramatherapy from NUI Maynooth. Since then she enjoys using drama to work with different groups of people of all ages and from different walks of life including those with special needs.
