Stagecoach Child Licensing Petition - UPDATE

On 13th May 2008 Stagecoach along with 60 students and parents went to Downing Street to present Gordon Brown with over 10,000 signatures.

The petition called Gordon Brown for an immediate reform and overhaul of legislation relating to the Children's performance license to ensure that children throughout the country are given equal opportunities in a safe and protected environment.

We are currently waiting for a response from the government and will publish details as soon as they are received.

Tarquin Shaw Young - Managing Director and Head of Casting Stagecoach Agency UK. Ed Vaizey, Conservative Shadow Minister for Culture. Stephanie Manuel, Founder of Stagecoach and David Sprigg, Co Founder of Stagecoach. Children in the forefront are 11 year old Sam Camino from Stagecoach Bedford and 12 year old Kathryn Peacock from Stagecoach Colchester.

According to the prestigious industry newspaper 'The Stage' child performing licences are set to face a total overhaul following the proposals of a government backed report. The report, commissioned by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport and the Department for Children, Schools and Families, has been welcomed by politicians from across the House. Central to the report's finding is the recommendation to end the 'postcode lottery' in licensing regulations that currently prevents some youngsters from getting their first opportunity to appear on stage.

Managing director and head of casting at Stagecoach Agency Tarquin Shaw-Young, who was consulted for the review and has been at the fore-front of the campaign to change the legislation, welcomed the recommendations and said he was pleased the government had 'actually responded, rather than stalling as they did previously.'

As soon as there are more developments we will keep you updated, in the meantime for the full article on 'The Stage' website please visit:
